A patent  for using chemical mutagenesis

Assistant Professor Dr. (Ibrahim Jaber Abdul) and teacher (Ali Muayad Najm) and Dr. (Rasha Karim Mohammed)  who are teaching staff  in the Department of Biology , College of Science, University of Baghdad received a patent tagged "Use of chemical mutagenesis on isolates of green microalgae to improve biomass production and some cellular components as raw materials for the production of biofuels. "

The aim of the patent is to demonstrate the effect of chemical mutagenesis on the mutation of two microalgae strains, Nannochloropsis sp. and Chlorella sp. In addition to determining the impact of this mutation on some of the basic cellular components (carbohydrates, fatty acids, and protein). Furthermore, the increase of biomass, which plays an important role in the production of biofuels, which is one of the most important constraints to the production of biofuels. Thus, it can be prepared these isolates for production Industrially and commercially.
