The President of the University of Baghdad Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein discussed with the Australian Ambassador to Baghdad Ms. Lyndall Sachs and a delegation that represents the University of Macquarie the ways of developing scientific and cultural cooperation and facilitating the scholarships of Iraqi students .

During the meeting, the two sides agreed upon increasing the scientific and cultural cooperation between Iraqi universities and their Australian counterparts, especially the University of Macquarie which is considered a highly recognized university as well as exchanging expertise and preparing joint researches in the specialties that Iraq needs .

Dr. Abdul-Hussein said that " The University of Baghdad is keen to increase the opportunities of training and studying for students and researchers in the Australian university of Macquarie as well as participating in scientific conferences that are expected to be organized by the two universities" .

For her side, Ms. Sachs and the Regional Manager for the University of Macquarie Dr. Catherine Sharelton showed the readiness of the Australian universities to boost the scientific and cultural cooperation, facilitate the procedures of Iraqi students' admissions to the highly recognized universities and benefit from their expertise to develop the capabilities of  Iraqi faculty members .
